‘Ella’ video premiere this week at CGIFF

Columbia Gorge Int'l Film Festival Poster

We are really excited to announce that this Friday August 12, the video for the song ‘Ella’ (from the Auralei EP) will premiere at the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival (CGIFF) in Vancouver, WA.  The screening will be at 8:45pm at Popculture and Keith and I will be there, so if you’re in the Portland area, please come say hello and celebrate with us!

The Ella video was conceived, directed and produced by the uber-talented Nicky Cairney (aka MissArtimation) of Aberdeen, Scotland.  Her hand-drawn animations are gorgeous.  Keith Crusher filmed all the live footage, and I did cartwheels, fell on my face, and threw myself off a table, I mean a cliff.  You’ll see.  It all turned out well.  We won’t be releasing it for public viewing just yet, as it’s still in the hopper for a few other festivals, but we’ll let you know when you can catch it online if you can’t make it to the Portland screening…

Nicky is also a talented singer-songwriter and you can hear her angelic voice over on the RTFM Records site…I’m pretty sure the faeries are sprinkling something in that highland water…

CGIFF is a produced by Angaelica, a non-profit organization embracing art & ecology, supporting artists, creations & collaborations, and connecting community through films, festivals and farms.  The festival runs Wednesday through Sunday and there are over 300 independent films, so we’re excited to catch a good few and support indie filmmakers and collaborative art.  (Did I mention it’s a FREE event?)  Check out the program here.

Other recent tidbits…I know we’ve been a bit quiet of late…we’re deep in the cavernous depths of the studio, whittling and polishing away at the new Body of Glass album.  We’re loving these songs and can’t wait to spring them on ya.  Collaborators on this album include the usual suspects, some blasts from the past, and some fresh new faces as well – Keith Crusher, David Earl (aka SFLogicninja), Daniel Berkman (aka Colfax), Mike Jordan (aka Mijo), Colin Fraser, Jim Hunter, Bobby Cochran (of Hands Upon Black Earth), Tom Lattanand, Abram Katz, Steve Lawson…and there may be a few surprises yet.  We’ve also been conjuring up the artwork, costumes, and ideas for a couple new videos, a book, and the next magazine…it’s quite a mythic adventure!  Can’t wait to share.  More bits and sneak peeks coming very soon…

Oh and did I mention I’m now officially a certified practitioner of Sound Healing?  I kinda feel like that’s been my aim for…well, a long time now.  But I recently completed an amazing course in Sound, Voice and Music Healing through California Institute of Integral Studies, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone curious about the very real (and scientifically validated!) powers of sound to create a healing effect on body and mind…and all those goodies in between.  The course is offered through CIIS Public Programs (the next session starts soon!) and led by the deeply gifted community builder and yogini of the voice, Silvia Nakkach.  I am still digesting and integrating everything I learned, and you can be sure it’s weaving itself into the new music bubbling up.  Lesson number one?  Healer heal thyself!  More on that one of these days, too…
